The oldest textile fragment in the world.
Thursday, October 30th, 2008For the record, an image of the oldest fragment of textile ever found. This is a Neolithic fragment of linen from Egypt circa 5000BC—a shred of clothing that belonged to someone 7000 years ago. There are only a few other fragments in the world almost as old as this one, and all are linen from the Nile Valley where the arid sand preserves wood and cloth extremely well.
