Easybreath mask and snorkel innovation

After many years of few changes in the old mask and snorkel setup, this is an interesting innovation. It just won the 2014 Oxylane Innovation Award (I have no idea what that is, but I suspect it’s just the first of many awards for this contraption).

The French company Tribord has come up with a way to allow snorkelers to breathe by both mouth and nose and without fogging the mask, as well as allowing diving without water entering the snorkel at all.

New egg carton design by Hungarian design student Otília Erdélyi

For the first time in a century, an innovation in the egg carton. Hungarian design student Otília Erdélyi figured out how to use less cardboard to make an elegantly simple package made from a single cardboard sheet. Her design is beautiful, genius. Via Inhabitat.

James Wines and SITE – art, architecture & enlightened business

Dear Vancouver architects and business owners, let’s re-visit the enlightened 1970s collaboration between the Best Products company, based in Virginia, and the artist-architect James Wines and his group SITE (Sculpture In The Environment). We could use some of their joint risk-taking and artistic innovation around here. What the videos below show evidence of, but don’t elaborate on, is the fact that the owners of the Best Products company were a highly educated, innovative, aesthetically adventurous family deeply interested in art.
