Luis Barragán – Casa Eduardo Prieto Lopez

These photos of architect Luis Barragán’s Casa Eduardo Prieto Lopez were taken by pov_steve on Flickr. The house was built in 1950 and is part of the Jardines del Pedregal neighbourhood designed by Barragán for a lava-covered site in Mexico City. This is effectively a subdivision; why do the two countries north of Mexico do this so much more badly?

High Line Park, two weeks from opening but already beautiful

Of course the High Line park didn’t open on time for our New York trip – the first phase now opens June 15 – but at least we got to see all the frantic final activity from our hotel window. UPDATE June 6: This had seemed like a great urban park idea, and it would have made a very beautiful promenade for New York, but as it turns out its use is semi-private.

This tiny sample of photos is from the new website of Vancouver interior designer April Tidey. They include shots of her own amazing loft in Gastown, one of Vancouver’s oldest neighbourhoods. April is a landscape and outdoor designer as well, and in that capacity she worked as designer and stylist for the HGTV series “Take It Outside” for several years.
