@Andy I was talking to one of the Instant Coffee artists at an opening last night and she said that this will be up for 2 years only. She said the collective can't afford to maintain it, and also that period was agreed upon with with the building owners. I guess it'll be up to the owners (and community?) to decide what happens next.

@Jessica pardon my ignorance but what are the Canucks commission or "spirit" statues (almost afraid to ask). No matter what they are, I agree that this is far better. I can tell based on those terms alone.

As an avid reader of this blog, I knew the geometric pattern would be something you would like. Funny though, in re-posting the top photo on facebook the other day, the comments and likes were from a broad array of people -- not just young, urban types etc. They should "Canucks-commission" these instead of those god-awful spirit statues. Good cause and all. It seems like enough of an object to own on the street for a year, before transferring to your back yard (ie BC Binning)

I had no idea what it was. Noticed a flash of pink while we were driving by one day and my wife said it had recently appeared. We just thought a local business had decided to spruce up an otherwise-boring breezeway.

We cut through there when we’re walking our kids to the ballpark. I hope it stays!

Hi Andy. What do you think of it/what did you guess it was? I haven't seen it in person but it looks great in photos. I tend to like these geometric things as they somehow mimic the city/architecture. This one looks like shadow lines. More:
