<p>Shigeru Ban is well known for his <a href="https://www.shigerubanarchitects.com/SBA_WORKS/SBA_PAPER/SBA_Paper_index.htm">paper architecture</a>, in particular the emergency structures designed for regions struck by disaster, notably houses for the Japanese city of Kobe hit by a devastating earthquake in 1995, and a series of paper tent structures for the UN High Commission for Refugees in <a href="https://www.shigerubanarchitects.com/SBA_WORKS/SBA_PAPER/SBA_PAPER_9/SBA_paper_9.html">Rwanda</a> in 1999.</p>

<p>This is a PS to the earlier <a href="https://ounodesign.com/2009/07/22/living-with-boulders/">Living with boulders</a> post. Thanks to David W. for telling me about this town. It&#8217;s the Spanish town of <a href="https://www.environmentalgraffiti.com/featured/town-devoured-by-rock/10450">Setenil</a>, or Setenil de las Bodegas, and many of its original houses are built into natural caves under a rock overhang.</p>
