<p>These were listed among the world&#8217;s ugliest buildings, aggregated from various rankings in Forbes, Virtual Tourist and Oddee.com. Quite apart from blithely ignoring the complexity of the question &#8220;what is beautiful,&#8221; which philosophy has attempted to deal with for centuries and has only made more unanswerable, this list is pretty odd.</p>

<p>When I saw the photo above in the news this morning, I thought it was a great building until I realized it was actually storm damage in Midland, Ontario. A <a href="https://www.cbc.ca/canada/story/2010/06/24/midland-ontario-tornado.html?ref=rss">tornado</a> produces strangely similar effect to architect <a href="https://ounodesign.com/2009/03/15/still-unsurpassed-box-store-architecture-site/">James Wines&#8217; SITE</a> buildings for the Best Products Company (below).</p>

<p>In my neighbourhood there&#8217;s a heritage program called <a href="https://www.vancouverheritagefoundation.org/tchouses/strathcona.html">True Colours</a> wherein you can receive a pat on the back from heritage types and sometimes free paint if you agree to paint your house in the original house colours circa 1901.</p>
