This new quiz is not going to help my little problem staying away from English comedy panel shows. Not only is this on top of Never Mind the Buzzcocks, Have I Got News for You and too many others to mention, it’s hosted by David Mitchell and stars the hilarious, nerdy, dreamboatish Richard Ayoade.

Nathan Barley

The 2005 UK miniseries “Nathan Barley” features an ensemble cast of top British comedians and actors and satirizes what seems to be a thinly disguised Vice magazine or equivalent (here it’s “SugarApe,” sometimes written SugaRape) and hipsters in general.

Houses in New Delhi by Edwin Lutyens

English architect Edwin Lutyens designed much of the British colonial power’s New Delhi between 1912 and 1930, and his aesthetic dominates the city. While in Delhi I have been staying in a Lutyens-designed house, now a guesthouse in walking distance from the famed Lodi Gardens and from India Gate, also designed by Lutyens.

Mighty Boosh

‘Mr. Susan’ in the “Mirror World” – this scene from the BBC’s The Mighty Boosh is a pretty good introduction to this cult BBC TV show. The show, the surreal adventures of two London zookeepers’, features DIY production and costume design that owes a lot to comedian Noel Fielding, one of the show’s two actor/writers.

Playplax by Patrick Rylands

Playplax, another toy from my childhood, was designed in 1966 by the brilliant British industrial designer Patrick Rylands. It’s in the permanent collection of the V&A Museum in London.

Sliding House in East Anglia has a retractable roof

Wow. Thanks to fauna for pointing this out to me. The 20 ton roof retracts in only six minutes via small, simple, quiet motors run by a few car batteries. The house was designed by owner Ross Russell and architect Alex de Rijke of DRMM.
