Rita Pavone, “Il geghegè”

Rita Pavone.

Thanks, Kay.

Google Translate says:

The Geghegè ‘(A. Peacock)

We have a riff (geghe geghe geghegè)
that goes like so (geghe geghe geghegè)
and this riff (geghe geghe geghegè)
it means (geghe geghe geghegè)
My greeting is geghegè (geghe geghe geghegè)

Perhaps you think that (geghe geghe geghegè)
this geghe geghe ge ‘(geghe geghe geghegè)
it means geghegè ‘(geghe geghe geghegè)
and instead this riff
means I love you!

So ‘let’s talk among ourselves
with Geghegè’
you tell me what you want
but do not know what to say

We have a riff (geghe geghe geghegè)
that goes like so (geghe geghe geghegè)
I say to you (geghe geghe geghegè)
You say to me (geghe geghe geghegè)
do it together geghegè ‘(geghe geghe geghegè)

(Instrumental)

So let’s talk to each other
with Geghegè
you tell me what you want but
do not know what to say!

  1. Great stuff!
I love the choreographed TV shows from the 60’s – it sure was a groovy time back then. And so innocent.
One of my favourites is this Sylvie Vartan show. The song was featured in the Japanese movie hit Waterboys and thereby got a revival. It’s a great song, very sentimental in an uplifting way.
