As a white person in Canada, especially one writing about a topic that intersects with Indigenous issues, I have found Métis writer Chelsea Vowel’s blog âpihtawikosisân invaluable. Vowel is a legal researcher who somehow explains complex issues with total clarity without ever being anything less than gripping or undercutting her politics. And now her posts have been gathered into a book—Indigenous Writes: A Guide to First Nations, Metis and Inuit Issues in Canada. Highly recommended for everyone living in Canada, whether Indigenous or not, or for that matter anyone outside of Canada. You can pre-order it – instructions are in this post.
